Private Liberal - Student Retention
Challenge
Keeping students can be nearly as difficult as recruiting them. The college needed to address freshman challenges such as grades, homesickness, and minor legal or personal problems while creating a systematic retention approach.
Solution
We used a boots-on-the-ground strategy combining advanced metrics, personal experience, intuition, strategic planning, personal accountability, and one-on-one relationship building. Relentless communication and close engagement helped identify problems early and intervene before small issues became larger retention risks. The principle was to combine data with personal attention and frontline execution.
Results
The college achieved record retention approaching 90%, compared with a benchmark above 75% for strong schools. Better retention reduced pressure on admissions and supported financial viability.

That reduced pressure on admissions and supported overall financial viability, demonstrating the power of focused strategy paired with frontline execution.
