Health & Human Services Nonprofit Merger
Challenge
Two health and human services nonprofits serving different geographies saw an opportunity to strengthen their collective impact and reduce overhead, but needed to align their teams and communicate the merger clearly across 26 counties.
Solution
We worked with both CEOs and leadership teams, providing leadership support, common language, talking points, senior-leadership media training, and a strategic timeline. We developed the campaign theme and produced video, leave-behinds, and multiple press conferences. The principle was alignment: leaders needed a common foundation internally before the new organization could tell one clear story externally.
Results
The organizations successfully aligned their teams and presented a unified vision, creating a stronger and more efficient regional nonprofit that later multiplied its impact.
Two health and human services nonprofits were doing similar work in different geographies and recognized that working together could strengthen output and reduce overhead. A merger, however, is more than an announcement. Employees, leaders, stakeholders, and communities all need to understand why the organizations are coming together and what the combined organization represents. We worked closely with the CEOs and leadership teams to guide the work. Our consultants provided leadership support, key language and talking points, media training, and a strategic timeline. We also developed the campaign theme and created video, leave-behinds, and multiple press conferences across the 26 counties served. The core principle was alignment: establish common language and understanding among leadership first, then carry that story consistently into the community. The organizations successfully aligned their teams and presented a unified vision. The result was a stronger, more efficient regional nonprofit positioned for greater impact, and years later the combined organization had multiplied that regional impact.
