Aligning Leadership and Messaging around a Growing Community

OnPoint Strategic Consulting
In Summary

Challenge

A rural county had many positive things happening but was not consistently telling its story. Messaging was disjointed, departments were disconnected, and there was a gap between county leadership and what citizens understood.

Solution

We worked with approximately 20 leaders through one-on-one meetings and candid conversations, mapping communication needs and identifying where alignment was breaking down. We provided direction, a plan, critical first steps, and a path forward. The principle was to begin with leadership alignment rather than simply impose an external message, giving leaders the structure and access needed to work together.

Results

The work fortified relationships, improved alignment, and gave leaders clearer direction and practical next steps for communicating the community's work.

The Full Story

A rural county had many good things happening, but the story was not being told consistently. Departments were communicating in different ways, leaders were not always connected, and citizens were not necessarily seeing the full picture of what was happening in the community. We worked with approximately 20 leaders through one-on-one meetings and hard conversations. Those individual discussions helped us understand where the disconnects existed. We mapped the relationships and communication needs, then provided direction, a plan, critical first steps, and a path forward. The principle was to empower leaders rather than simply hand them a message. Strong communication required the people responsible for the work to understand their shared role in the story. The effort fortified relationships and created greater focus and alignment. Leaders gained clearer direction and practical next steps, while the county developed a stronger foundation for communicating the good work taking place throughout the community.
